Emily Dickinson - Quantum Physicist

Came across some good thoughts about emotions and the body while thinking about the things which drive human beings to be creative. “Ultimately, we are puppets of both pain and pleasure, occasionally made free by our creativity.”

Then I read a favorite Emily Dickinson poem, the one where I always felt she was more quantum physicist than poet (see below).

Why does my own brain wake up at 3:30/4 every morning filled with a strange impulse to get right to painting or sketching or writing first thing? I was moved this morning to paint the undercoat for a new piece based on these thoughts, and a photo I saw on Instagram. Time to crawl back into bed…

The Brain — is wider than the Sky —
For — put them side by side —
The one the other will contain
With ease — and you — beside —
The Brain is deeper than the sea —
For — hold them — Blue to Blue —
The one the other will absorb —
As sponges — Buckets — do —
